Mysore-Style Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional method of practice in which students practice at their individual pace. The term Mysore style comes from the city Mysore, in Karnataka, India, where Pattabhi Jois and T. Krishnamcharya taught. Students are expected to memorize a sequence and practice in the same room as others without being led by the teacher. The role of the teacher is to guide as well as provide adjustments or assists in the postures. New postures are taught sequentially to the student as his or she memorize the sequence, individual strength, proficiency or improvement. Mysore classes are also perfect if your a beginner, as the teacher will work one on one, so you going to take direct instructions. This way you can learn easier the foundation and principles of the Ashtanga method.
